I would argue the spiritual experience doesn't peak with the actual dissolution of the ego. It peaks with a sort of glimpse of what that might be like, a removing of barriers that simultaneously allows the ego to loosen it's grip while also showing you just how rooted it really is. Even in the most intense "break through" psychedelic experience my ego was always intact, just sort of...temporarily giving up control and going along for the ride. Like a roller coaster. Yeah it's possible I *could* get thrown off. I believe you are on to something. It’s not about not being “ready,” it comes down to the fundamental difference between RHP and LHP. We on the LHP refuse to relinquish the ego at all costs.
