What are your thoughts on christmas? Do you celebrate it or not?

I love Chtistmas! I don't get caught up in the politics.I don't care what it is about. Or who has rights to it. Or who it offends. So long as I get to put up a pretty tree and hang pretty shiny things on it, I'm happy!

It's an excuse to gift your loved ones (not that I have much money - yet!) and kick back with them. And bake a ham - I learnt that from a American woman I knew. We don't traditionally bake them in Australia because it is hot, but now I do because it is damn yummy. and it goes well with pineapple coconut salad. Aaaand it's an excuse to put extra umbrellas on my Pina Coladas!

I'm a big kid at Christmas - I even have trouble sleeping Christmas Eve. Actually, I have fun with a lot of things. : )

If anyone here does know the original reason for the celebration I would love to hear about it.

I agree with everything you wrote, Satanic Kitty, except the snow. It's never snowing on Christmas here. It sucks.

I like Christmas, or Hanukkah or whatever winter holiday one chooses to celebrate. I don't look at the winter holidays as being Christian, Jewish or pagan, I simply see them as a time to gather with friends and family during the winter time and have fun.

Given my "mastery" of pumpkin pie making the last few years, my grandma has asked me to take over the majority of the baking for Christmas this year. I don't know how I'll do, but I'll give it my best shot.

I used to celebrate it, but these days it only makes me depressed. We never celebrated it for any religious reason in my family. Yule was just about being with family, eating lots of food and giving gifts. I hope to get back to that tradition one day.

It's 4:50am Christmas morning and I have woken up. Crap! Mid Summer here so it is broad daylight outside. Now my brain is awake. Double crap!

Okay. Going back to bed to try and get some more sleep.

can I go to your house for Christmas shadowlover?  I always spend it alone...

My fav holidays are: Halloween, July 4th and Christmas.  I love Christmas movies, music and decorations....

I'm hiking tomorrow, or going to the beach after sleeping in...  yum.

For me christmas are just family traditions. I don't like the holiday itself that much, althought it's cool to get and give presents, set up a tree and enjoy quality time with family. But always there has been something that I don't like about christmas, it always made me wanna go out of my house for a walk with my one specific friend. Few years ago it also felt more like christmas with snow- white christmas.. mmm.
