Something crossed my mind because I like to think of weird scenarios. If our brains emit DMT when we die, which explains The Light, when people that didn't die say they see Hell/The Devil, does this indicate a bad trip? This is really a serious question.

I would suggest that there are many different ways to interpret a bright light.  To some it might seem warm and fuzzy.  To others it might seem terrifying and hellish.  I agree with the theory that DMT is released upon death.  I would assume that a person's recollection of such an experience would be subject to hindsight bias molded by their opinion of how "good" or "bad" they are, and thus what sort of end they "deserve."

I can only picture what I have seen others make it out to be because of how often it is said. Flames, torture, all bad people and whatnot. How I want to picture it is The Promised Land, containing a bunch of parties, friends and women. However, I have not yet distinguished what exactly I believe. Maybe when one dies and they convert over to a parallel universe from Stephen Hawking's theory. Also, some people would say your spirit would become a ghost. I'm one hundred percent sure I do not believe in spirits. There is just too many possibilities to only believe in one. I keep my mind open.

When taking in the Christian (and maybe Muslim - I've never read the Koran so I try to avoid speaking on Islam because I like to be knowledgeable on a subject - but I know that Christianity and Islam are very simliar); perception of hell. With this, then maybe hell wouldn't be too different from the Earth we live in today? Materialistic (at least it is in the 1st world countries); unfair (looking at economics and state of living) and where people let things get in the way (because let's face it, most of us in the US; UK; NZ; Aus; South Africa (white/Afrikannas anyway) or most of Europe probably have a lot of crap lying around the house we don't use - I know I do).
However while the Earth isn't perfect, and we should do a lot more stuff to improve it (like sustaining ourselves better and not killing the Earth - we only have one).
I'd much rather be here than sitting on a cloud in the sky strumming a bloody harp and wearing a hospital gown thing, personally.

The light at the moment of death is the train coming to smash you apart.

I thank all of you for the replies. When I said what I said, it's just something that comes to my mind. I thought that making it broad would leave room for more discussion about the possibilities. I think it's cool to hear other people's opinions about weird thoughts.

I never considered this, and it lies outside of my ability to verify so there's not much I can comment on. Though, you might find the following quote and page on set and setting interesting:

"Of course, the drug dose does not produce the transcendent experience. It merely acts as a chemical key — it opens the mind, frees the nervous system of its ordinary patterns and structures. The nature of the experience depends almost entirely on set and setting. Set denotes the preparation of the individual, including his personality structure and his mood at the time. Setting is physical — the weather, the room's atmosphere; social — feelings of persons present towards one another; and cultural — prevailing views as to what is real. It is for this reason that manuals or guide-books are necessary. Their purpose is to enable a person to understand the new realities of the expanded consciousness, to serve as road maps for new interior territories which modern science has made accessible

My psychonaut days have been over for a long time. But, if you find this helpful, feel free to PM me with any questions you have and maybe it'll jog my old memory of something that might be interesting / useful from that subculture.

I would say that our brains emit a monstrous cascade of chemicals which affect all different receptors and copy the effects of many different types of drugs. If i had to take a guess the experience would depend on the lifestyle of the person as well as how and if they routinely altered their brain chemistry with a certain amount of and how much they have affected their brains neuro-chemistry long term with psychoactive compounds.
