I've been thinking, and wanted to get some thoughts off my chest.

Primarily, I want to establish that I understand religion as being a projection of psychology. Characters in myths represent psychological concepts to me, and have been used that way in psychology, historically.

I also consider The Bible (Torah and Xian) and Koran to be expressions of psychology.

Observing myself, I've come to identify my will as a ball of light, or all-seeing eye.

I've come to the subjective conclusion that the One True God is an expression of one's will. To worship the will of another is an abomination to me. It is control on a deep level. Those without wills of their own are puppets.

I know this has been said before, but I feel that I understand it now on a much deeper level.

Thoughts?

Jung interpreted the Bible in this way. For example, the birth of Jesus in a stable among the animals is a parable for the birth of self among the primal instincts, the unconscious made conscious. In the darkness of yourself you will find your god.

The temptation of Christ by Satan is the dialogue of Jesus with himself, with his primal instincts and egoistical desires; desire for food, power and recognition.

He also compares the cross to mandala, the union of opposites; the earth and heaven, left and right, east and west. It's the symbol of the whole, therefore the cross is the symbol of the Self, which unites the conscious with the unconscious, nature with culture, the dark primal part of the psyche with the light, civilized conscious one. The death on the cross is an alchemical process, which leads to resurrection, renewal.

For Jung God is Self. Self is not the same as ego. Ego is associated with reason, it has no insight into the unconscious, therefore it's limited. Intuition and insight come from the Self, which embraces both conscious and unconscious, therefore it has larger scope of vision.

Thanks for your insight. Jung was a smart man. It seems I understand things the way he interpreted them. I just take offense to being controlled.

Nice exploration there, AnnaCzereda, and a great premise/statement ByteJunkie.
I was going to say that the "events" in the bible and elsewhere could well be rituals designed only to be truly understood by the initiated, of course this doesn't disagree with the psychological aspects.
The true will, the true empire and philosophy I think I try, sometimes, to adhere to, is intensely powerful and nonjudgemental. So I try to live without regret, shame or insecurity. Not to say I am a complete pig, though.
I do wonder, like it seems some here, at least you two, about the true nature of politics, the base level of its articulation and facilitation.
We should all join that team, or them ours, huh?

There is one True Will as there is one true being or animal that you are. But this being will react differently in different environments and scenarios, such it is to be an animal and such it is to be human.

Parts of this Will shall never be expressed fully but only described, in part because they can only be introspected, sensed, felt, described and thought of in a conscious manner. Partly because some of my being shall always be unknowable to me, partly because any thought i have on the manner shall always be a reflection of what was or what is.

The self by its very nature is that which has the ability to reflect upon its own existence, that is the very basis of self awareness.

To declare at once
"I am that I am"

& to question

"Is that me?"

This paradox can rarely be grasped without the use of images, poetry and myth to boil it down to its simplest essence. To value yourself, your own mind and being and place that as the seat of divinity, is autotheism and to make yourself autotelic and one's own life force their god.

I am spiritual only so far as I find my own breath sacred....
