I just thought of this ghetto ass motel I used to stay at and you folks have got to hear about this place. I just read a new article about how the city is tearing it down to build apartments and it reminded me of this place. It was the most run down, dope infested place you’ve ever seen. It was called the Capitol Motel. Basically, everyone that stayed there was an active gang member, on the run, strung out or selling dope.

It was 29 bucks a night (the last time I stayed there was 2009 so they probably raised their rates because they just tore it down so it probably closed not too long before). The first time I stayed there was when I was like 22 years old. It was me, my friend Kody and this one girl that Kody brought over. All we did was get really drunk and smoke a bunch of weed, nothing really of note happened the first time. It was all the time I stayed there when I was on the run that was really interesting.

So at the time I was basically homeless and couch surfing. I couldn’t get a job because then the cops would find me there so I scammed the state unemployment system and got weekly checks of 400 dollars because I lied and said I got laid off from my job which wasn’t true, I just stopped showing up. I would blow all my money on heroin and I was staying in the motel with my friend Max. Let me tell you about Max.

He was about 55 years old. I actually met him through my ex girlfriends friend Caylee. Caylee was on intervention and max was kind of featured on that episode. Basically he was dating Caylee and he was in his 50s and she was 17 or 18. They did tons of dope together and he ran off to Vegas with her. Max owned an accounting business when he met her and this chick convinced him to liquidate his company, sell pretty much every asset he had and they ran off to Vegas together. I met them a few months after they got back and max blew through, I’m guessing, hundreds of thousands of dollars with her. He ended up living in his car which was like a 1988 Pontiac Fiero that he bought for a few hundred bucks. If you’ve ever seen one of those you’d be like “ How the fuck could anyone live in one of those”. It’s a two seater!

But anyways when I was staying at the Capitol Motel I would let Max sleep on the floor. We would shoot dope all day and each smoke about two packs of cigarettes a day in there, plus weed. I don’t think we opened the windows one time in there. It got so smoky that my eyes burned. We burned the shit out of the floor and sheets too. I would do a fat shot of heroin and nod out while smoking a cigarette and drop it. I never got charged for anything and never was told I couldn’t come back. Our dealer would come and meet us every morning there and I would get quarter to half ounces at a time because We were selling too. We would have people just come up to the room and wouldn’t have to worry about the cops because everyone at that motel was shady as fuck and probably doing the same thing. I would run to the gas station across the street and would always see bald tatted up ex con looking dudes standing outside. I stayed there for a few months and never saw the cops there once.

Anyways I ended up leaving that motel and went up to Portland for a few weeks and I could do another post about that whole fiasco. What a shit show. But another great hotel, at least in my city, if your on the run or selling drugs is the Inn Town Suites. I dont know if you would have that in your city but they are probably two star but they have kitchens and everything. You can cook crack in there or cut heroin. I just saw that news article about the Capitol Motel and had memories and it sounded like a good drugs post.

Prompt: Seedy drug and prostitution motel

Marty and Skinny enter through the mudstreaked window.  The sign over the vacancy reads "Seedy Drug and Prostitution Motel." In a hallway is the people’s room.  Marty picks up the note from Skinny.  He crosses to a second floor window, dashes inside.  slams on the door.  Then a freddy fiedler comes through the peephole.  He is unkempt, unshaven, dirty in fact.  He wears sunglasses and a leather cap pulled down over his ears.  He speaks in a hoarse, bone-dry Spanish.
