Do you believe in the thinking stuff? | Forum

So I've been lurking here for a little bit and seems like very few of yall believe in (for lack of a better term) a higher power. I could be wrong but i want your opinion on an  excerpt I'm going to post and I've seen similar things written in other books.

"There is a thinking stuff in which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates and fills the inter spaces of the universe. A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imagined by the thought."

"man can form things in this thought, and , by impressing his thought upon formless substance can cause the thing he thinks to be created."

Another book gives an example about how the wright brothers had a thought about flying and eventually created the airplane. that we've always had the tools but thought it was impossible. some say it's all thoughts and god is not in the equation others say god is at the center of all our thoughts.

what do you think?

For the same reasons I can't make other things work I cant make panpsychism (or "thoughts proceeding material") work.

This is my idea on that. (And also my layman TOE)

Thoughts are material.  Consciousness is an evolved byproduct of sensory input.

Try to insert the very first appearance of consciousness on earth, prokaryotes. Read as volition. It seems all biological life, the things built from the soup of water and left-handed amino acids have something stone does not, a secondary experience.  All life that moves, while made of the same elements as the material world, is secondary to the material.  Starting at the most microscopic it builds from bottom up. Like starting the process all over again within an already established system. And as secondary creations their "rules" are still based on the same inevitable decay, only at a rate increased by orders of magnitude due to flimsier organic construction. Hense: A need for self creation to stay ahead of a much faster organic material decay rate.

I feel counterintuitively the volition to propagate only highlights it's nature as emergent and not of an intrinsic quality or principle.

Because it exists with a layer of separation from the elemental universe it's inherent parameters acknowledge it's layer of separation and entropic elemental construction

As far as those life forming amino acids, they are now all but confirmed to be created not only in oceans of terrestrial planets, but also in the soup of hyperdense interstellar clouds, like the nurseries that form stars.  (Glycine detected in interstellar clouds all over milky way. Amino acids are increasingly looking omnipresent in the universe. And it's all natural.)

And those nurseries are still the byproducts of billions of years of shit happening. It took 250k years after inflation just for The Era if Recombination to take place.  And if it took that long for hydrogen to attract a free electron I can't see a place for life or the thing that made up conscious thoughts yet.

It took eons of generational stars before that later nursery for molecular life was even a thing.

Reducing the counter through absurdity:  The universe came into its form naturally over a protracted period and all symmetry exists BECAUSE of years of bound interactions and not because a proto-designer said, "so shall it eventually be, but only after billions of years."

In one line: The chronology of the universe itself does not allow for this without wacky priori insertion that is ultimately removable.

Cynicism: But the entire fucking planet likes thinking top-down, so you really can't help that.

**************************

Related statemnent: If the universe is a mistake of excess energy from a fluctuation that created all positive mass, then entropy becomes a necessity to negate the mistake that is the matter that makes up our expanding bubble universe. Once again the laws of universal interaction are an emergent property of the initial broken symmetry.  Given infinite space, universes are statistically required "mistakes" that randomly fluctuate from an infinite vacuum, which is the default state of any god you will ever need. A primordial field of potential that always exists in superfluid non-existence. There to create an endless number of fluke bubbles to die according to laws of that universe.

So long chicken and egg... you just have to be okay with the alpha and omega being a randomly fluctuating always-existing-non-existence. With the form it always exited in being that ubiquitous motionless potential energy state.

And one more to go:

Wacky Priori Insertion: I also think M-theory and Vacuum genesis should merge. The parameters for universal formation remain intact but are applied to a bulk which is represented as something analgous to a primordial vacuum. The "membranes" become the ever-tethered "outer casing" of the manifold space created by the fluctuation. And quarks can still be strings.

Rationale: If M-theory can say "branes collided in a bulk", I can baselessly speculate that collision was in fact the creation of dimensional manifold space formed from a fluctuation within zero-dimensional space.

Oh wait, It's already called String field theory...

It is true that fundamentally it's all the same 'stuff', but as for a universal hierarchy, to put anything before consciousness might be like putting the cart before the horse.

Danny's no longer here, Mrs. Torrance.

Not that you'll miss his loquacious, pretentious, nihilist ass. He can preach his botched theoretical physics and rigid science shit from a soapbox on a motorway.

This sort of goes with the overall theme, and I'm still a bit in the dark with a lot of this, but I remember this one dude from like a year ago that came on here and I didn't really have a handle what was going on at the time, but the essence of it was basically "shut the fuck up", more or less. (in retrospect)

Given what I've observed, 'in retrospect' it does make a lot more sense now, but I'm not really effected by any of it. Theists, atheists, clowns to the left and jokers to the right, and here I am...

What is to the left, what is to the right, the same bonzo that gets you in the middle.

What is in the middle is a little of the left and a little of the right. A new and improved more evolved form of theism, or we could just call it deism.

But even deism seems to signify 'deity' at face value, and all that came after.
Satanist since more than a decade
People tend to believe in mind over matter.
It's bullshit. Try stopping a thrown rock with your mind.

People believe in "manifestation".
Try talking for weeks on end about getting more money. It won't happen.

There are higher powers, but do not expect them to abide simple callings and bratty demands of the lower cannon-fodder.
Your overtly religious ancestors and the first prophets understood that much. Sacrifices must be made. Dedication and action. Sacrificing of time and energy. To manifest implies to sacrifice your own blood and time to get what you want. Time and effort. You want money? Leverage your surroundings and get to work. Re-calibrate your mindset to work for what you want. To create opportunity. The higher powers will grant you the break if enough has been sacrificed.

People might call it circumstance.
Others a divine spark.
Many more Atheists will just say "You got lucky".

Higher powers are fucking irrelevant.  Work is all you need.  You can shoehorn in an imaginary catalyst for it all, but it's all extraneous.

And what you said sounds exactly what some evangelical christian AA shithead I came across once said.

He said, "See, god only answers your prayers when you do the leg work.  Like, he won't grant grace if you expect it without putting in effort for it."

I have often felt that's one of the most unnecessary mindsets ever..  Might as we say something like:

"I'm a bartender at a busy bar, and I got this job through my friend. But really I gotta thank god for making all those people come in and tip me massively, and for making my friend help get me the lucrative job, even though ABSOLUTELY NONE OF MY SUCCESS NEEDS DIVINE EXPLANATION".
