Perhaps this is a hidden foreign gem for some, and not for others. This film has been around since 2010 so I might just be late to the party on this one. From my personal perspective, I found this one aesthetically pleasing and rich in symbolism coupled with wild psychedelia.
I'm sure there are some who view things through a more spiritual prism, and from that end you may find the reincarnation overtones of the film quite interesting. From a Satanic perspective, an understanding of the Current certainly seems apparent as well! Overall, cause and effect are certainly a main theme within this contextually rich collection of frames.
For those who trust iMdb for ratings and such, you can find some details here. You can get this film on Amazon Prime, which synopses the plot in an incredibly simple caption:
"A French Drug Dealer living in Tokyo is betrayed by his best friend and killed in a drug deal. His Soul, observing the repercussions of his death, seeks resurrection."
Now, because our main character is a drug dealer, there is obviously some drug use in the movie. This is the source of some of the most visually pleasing scenes, particularly during some of the DMT scenes.
I find myself having to look harder and harder these days for anything that can still captivate my attention through artistic beauty and stimulating visual story-telling. This is a unique perspective for sure, and isn't ruined by any form of censorship, I can definitely guarantee that. I was surprised at how graphic some scenes are, but they're completely necessary in order to take you on this colourfully patterned journey.
Enjoy!
