I like THIS the most:
"I know nothing about the Greek mythology, and I would assume many people in Lakeland don't either "
A valid argument in favor of not casting one's pearls before the swines.
The difference between a gallery and a street site is that the former is frequented by the people who generally are interested in art and more likely to appreciate it. Casual passerbys don't have a too much refined taste. That in turn leads us to the difference between the intended audience and random audience. I wouldn't expect the latter to understand and appreciate what the artist aimed to show.
If such goof-ball ideas one runs into such as "Satanism is about losing the ego" or the liberal clap-trap that is TST's Tenets are to be take seriously, we're not too far off from seeing the day when even a painting of a basket of fruit will have to be taken down on account of being too "Satanic".
So there is a minor connection, in a six degrees of condemnation way.
@ OP - In the land where this was Satanism the painter might act more like Diego Rivera being told to take down the mural depicting Vladamir Lenin (among others) from The Chrysler Building lobby.
