An inner critic. That pesky voice in your head you heard at least a couple of times, telling you to mind your manners, to dress properly, stop drinking, not to eat too much, not to take too many risks etc. How do you deal with it when, for example, you want to smoke a cigarette or a joint and it tells you "Don't do it. You smoke too much. Control yourself. you'll get sick." Do you:

* Ignore it?

* Debate it?

* Try to make friends with it?

* Hear its commands and act accordingly for fear it will call you a worthless piece of shit?

* Hear its commands, act discordingly and then feel like a worthless piece of shit?

* Rebel against it and feel proud for fighting this abominable despot?

* Say the following mantra:

"I'm a proud and independent Satanist! I'm my own god! And I love myself unconditionally!!!

And repeat it till you believe it?

* (...) Insert any other creative option here.

I look at it like having a porch stricken proverbial angel bitch in one's head. Mayhaps you should tell the bitch this is the reign of The Dark Man, the proverbial devil.  But that is a product of dualist imprinting.The nag most decidedly represents "good" where the abhorant behavior is "evil".

She is a Jungian mother-fucking-hen.

The Mother archetype is not your friend, even moreso when it carries that inflection of Emily Post. It is conditioning. The pesky critic is of the teachers that taught you to fight you, to compromise, to conform, and to assimilate.

It' up to you how much rage that causes, as nowhere on the planet escapes it from forming.  At least its not a Sharia Law mother hen?

I wouldn't wholly condemn an internal critic. Sometimes, it can be useful, especially if it has some connection to intuition. Its advice could be beneficial. The problems begin if it undermines your self-worth and self-confidence.

My internal critic(s) have no connection to intuition.

 I actually find it more authentic WHEN the critic attempts to undermine me.  It is that comforting bitch of positive affirmation I want to torture. Nothing worse than something acting like an internal 'spirit guide' there to lift you up and shower you with its benevolence and advice.

It is an archetype I wish I never had the misfortune of presencing.

"Fuck off benevolent sun. May the two never become one".
